Susie Morgan, LMFT, BCETS

Susie Morgan (she/her - legal name Susanne) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and has provided psychotherapy since 2001. She is a Board Certified by and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, as well as a Diplomate of the National Center for Crisis Management. She is a member of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. She is a Board Certified Professional Counselor, has been awarded Fellow standing by the American Psychotherapy Association, and is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. Susie's education has included graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and as a Distinguished Student in Psychology. She has further earned both a Masters of Arts in Counseling and a Masters of Arts in Clinical Psychology. In order to be able to effectively address the complexity of symptoms experienced by her clients, she continually pursues further development of her clinical skills. Early in her career, Susie completed the 60-hour California State Certification as a Domestic Violence / Sexual Assault Advocate. She has also completed the 70-hour Certificate Program in Traumatic Stress Studies through leading trauma expert Bessel van der Kolk and The Mindsight Approach to Well-being: A Comprehensive Course in Interpersonal Neurobiology taught by Dan Siegel, MD. Susie was originally trained in EMDR Therapy in 2005. She is a Certified Therapist with the EMDR International Association and has completed extensive advanced training in EMDR and related physiologically-based intervention protocols for the treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex/Developmental Trauma, Dissociative Disorders, and other mental health conditions. Susie is an EMDRIA Approved Consultant and has provided Consultation to mental health professionals regarding certification in EMDR therapy, qualification as a Consultant, and the application of advanced EMDR therapy interventions for the treatment of Complex/Developmental Trauma and Dissociative Disorders. She is also the Founder and Director of Training for the Precision EMDR Academy (formerly the EMDR Readiness Academy) providing Basic Training in EMDR therapy and continuing education to EMDR therapists as an approved EMDRIA Approved Training Provider and EMDRIA Credit Provider (#18001). Susie has substantial training in Cognitive-Behavioral treatments for trauma, anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder, most significantly with David Burns’ of Stanford University. She is a Certified Level 3 Advanced TEAM-CBT Therapist through the Feeling Good Institute, applying David Burns’ cutting edge approaches to assessment and treatment. Susie has been fully trained and accredited in the Amen Clinics methods for educating, assessing, and motivating clients struggling with brain-related conditions, including trauma, anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder. As part of this association, she has access to specialized tools and resources to help clients be able to help them attain better brain health and lead happier, richer lives. Susie is also a Certified HeartMath Practitioner through the Institute of HeartMath. HeartMath is a tool for affect regulation training, which has been shown through extensive research to improve anxiety, depression, sleep, focus, and other aspects of mental and physical health.
